I imagined two hours of slow torture by bright-coloured animated bricks, but the Lego movie was over-delivered; why else would it start poking us from the very first scene with its pointy satire and sassy, layered irony while kids laugh hilariously at something ELSE. Plus, it reminded me of endless chains of those first inventions, not very different from the one Emmet made ... yes, joining two bricks together.
